Care at Home & Support

Many people now choose to remain at home despite ailing health and well-being, drawing comfort from familiar surroundings and having loved ones nearby. Our Care at Home service ensures that the normal day to day activities of daily living are achievable in spite of illness and frailty.


Simple tasks such as preparing a meal or taking a shower can become overwhelming and our homecare and support staff can help you to maintain your independence while supporting you to achieve your goals.

Domestic tasks

We recognize that maintaining your own standard of living is integral to your emotional and physical wellbeing. Having the right support from a team that understands your needs can help you to remain in control.

Imagine if you had someone to help you with: -

Companionship

Companionship means different things to different people.  We can adapt our companionship care to whatever you need, whenever you need it.   Some of the things we do include: -

  • Sharing your life experiences, listening and conversing

  • Read for you or with you – newspapers, books, internet.

  • Share memories through photographs, music and films.

  • Helping with crafts and hobbies

  • Going to the theatre, cinema, music events

  • Accessing education such as college, Open University, visits to the Library

  • Visiting places of interest

  • Accompanying on holiday

  • Shopping trips for clothes, birthday gifts and Christmas 

  • Swimming, gym, horse riding, sporting events

  • Helping you keep in touch with friends and family.

  • Going to the hairdressers/barbers

Degenerative illness

A long-term Degenerative Illness can have a huge impact on the entire family. Having the right support in place to deal with the day-to-day issues that arise and help both emotionally and physically with all aspects of the illness can help ease the effects on the family.

We recognise that for some people degenerative illness may require care lasting only a short time, while others may require years of input.

At Complete Care Agency our support staff and qualified nurses are experienced in caring for those with long- and short-term degenerative illness and trained in any complex needs that you may develop. We work alongside the multidisciplinary team to ensure that you have the right levels of support in place as your needs change.

This is inclusive of, but not limited to:

  • Multiple Sclerosis   

  • Motor Neuron's Disease 

  • Huntington’s Disease  

  • Parkinson’s Disease

  • Progressive Supranuclear Palsy

    What we can do
    Our support staff are currently working to support service users with:

    • Ventilator care –      support with connecting and disconnecting your ventilator including      NIPPI 3 and Cpap, support changing and cleaning your filters and      tubing, support in recognizing and managing problems with your      ventilator

    • Tracheostomy care – we are able to undertake a full tracheostomy change, assist with      inner cannula changing and cleaning and with care of your stoma site   

    • Ambu-bagging – manual ventilation where clinical signs indicate respiratory difficulties require it    

    • Cough assist – checking and ensuring settings are correct. Fully assisting in the      use of your cough assist either manual or automatic.

    • Chest physio – administer prescribed plan of care from physiotherapist.

    • Suction – we are able to provide both shallow oral suctioning and deep suction via tracheostomy using either a closed or open suction catheter system.

    • Bowel care – from assisting you into the right position to digital evacuation and      bowel stimulation, including use of suppositories and enema’s.

    • Stoma care –      care of the stoma site and emptying of stoma bag.

    • Catheter care –      including intermittent catheterization, care of your suprapubic site      and catheter and recognition and management of urinary tract      infections.

    • Oxygen therapy – recognizing the signs of oxygen desaturation such as cyanosis and assisting to apply oxygen whether this is delivered via nasal cannula, face mask or tracheostomy using cylinders or condensers.

    • Epilepsy management – dealing with injury arising from a seizure administration of midazolam and diazepam.

    • Gastrostomy care – care of the stoma site, administering medication, water and food via      PEG tube using both gravity and pumps.

Dementia and Alzheimer’s
Dementia is caused by a disease of the brain such as Alzheimer’s or Vascular Dementia. No two people with Dementia and Alzheimer’s are the same, everyone is affected differently.

Dementia is progressive so the symptoms get worse over time. Dementia can be managed and with early diagnosis there are medications available which in some cases may help. Research into Dementia is ongoing as they seek to find a cure and advancements are always being made in treatments.

Complete Care Agency have a team of management and care staff who have extensive knowledge and understanding of Dementia and the care for those with Dementia and Alzheimer’s.

Staying in your own home with Dementia is proven to have a better long term outcome for sufferers, it helps to have your own personal belongings around you and familiar surroundings. A local team of staff can help you to continue to access places local to you and maintain friendships and community involvement.

Communication is key to the development of a personalised care plan which will adjust and adapt to your changing needs. Through having a consistent staff team bonds can be formed and those who know you best can assist you to make choices about the care you receive.

End of life care
We work closely with NHS commissioners to provide holistic support to people we care for at the end of life. Complete Care Agency believes in the right to have compassion and dignity throughout life and we will support you and your family at this time. Ensuring that your wishes in terms of care are met and that we are a supporting presence and comfort to you and your family.

Aims of End-of-Life care at home:

  • To  allow you to remain at home in familiar surroundings and with loved      ones.  

  • To provide physical and emotional support

  • To provide companionship and friendship

  • To ensure that your dignity is protected at all times.

To allow you to make choices at all times about the care and support      you receive.
Your care plan will detail your individual needs and wishes with regard to personal care, medication administration and eating and drinking. We will work closely with district nurses and your GP to ensure you have any medical intervention required and your wishes regarding this documented and discussed with your family where appropriate.

Palliative Care

We understand that coming to terms with illness and palliative care at home can be distressing and difficult for everybody involved. We will put together a plan that reflects the needs and wishes of people reaching the end of their lives, and those of their loved ones.

Learning disabilities
Having a learning disability should not mean your life expectations are any different than anyone else’s. Having help to keep control of your life and shape your own future is as important to us as to you.
We are able to recognise that there are many challenges that face those with Learning Disabilities and our experienced support staff will help you overcome obstacles such as accessing your community and developing independent living skills.
You and our carers can enjoy fun days out, trips and excursions and other stimulating activities. Care staff can assist you with your schooling, further education or applying for jobs. Going into the work place we can help you with transport as well as your day to day routine.

We have staff who are familiar with various forms of communication such as Makaton, Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), supporting communication and developing new skills. Your care plan will be developed with you and will be ever changing as your needs require.

Young person services
Children are the heart of the home and when they are unwell they want to be at home with their parents and siblings. Having a dedicated team who can support you when you most need it is crucial to the wellbeing of the entire family. Huge emotional demands can be placed upon the family when children suffer long term or acquired injuries and with our support, we can help ease the pressure.

Choosing the right team can be stressful and time consuming, we will assist you in finding the right people who you can build a trusting relationship with. This support is flexible around term time and school holidays and includes accompanying the family on holiday if required.

At the heart of our care is your child. It is essential to remember their childhood experiences are not overshadowed by clinical intervention – fun, games and laughter all come as part of our package.

  • All of our support staff will be trained specifically in your needs by a Clinical Nurse Manager and once deemed competent will continue to have ongoing support and supervision.

Respite Care
Caring for another person can be physically and mentally demanding, and much more than purely handling the day-to-day tasks. Especially when caring for long periods at a time, the emotional strain can take its toll.
When you need a break from caring, for whatever reason, and for however long, our care assistants will be there to step in to provide the friendly and professional care and support for you and your loved one. Our respite care support provides you with complete peace of mind and can be scheduled as needed, whether it is to provide family carers time to run errands, go shopping or get some much-needed rest.
We offer flexible respite Care services that encompass all of our care services, be it Personal Care, Social Care or Domestic Care to care for your loved one at home.

Support For Family – Care for Carers
Through its respite care services, 24hrs Passionate Care can help you and your family to better manage the stress and toll on your own health that often comes with caring for a loved one. With our services, you as the family carer can get a break from caring while ensuring that your loved one is getting the support and care they need. Although care work can be rewarding and often strengthens bonds within a family, looking after an older family member can be demanding amidst life’s other responsibilities.
